Photo Manipulation
Overview: The purpose of this exhibit is to demonstrate how to combine several images using various tools in Photoshop to create a unique composition.
Design Principles:
To create this composition I stared with the image of the lightbulb. I used the lasso tool and content aware fill option to get rid of the wiery insides. I cleaned up the content aware fill results with the cloane stamp tool.
After getting the lightbulb image where I needed it to be, I placed the image of the plant using File > Place Embedded. I then turned the opacity of the image down so I could see the lightbulb in addition to the plant. This helped me to know where I wanted to place the image of the plant. Once the plant was placed I used a layer mask and painted away the part of the plant image I did not want visible. I used a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to intensify the color of the plant. To ensure the edits were just made to the plant, not the entire image I used a clipping mask.
Lastly, I wanted to add a spot of light to create a bright sunny illusion. To do this I added a new layer on top, filled it with black and then selected Filter > Render > Lens Flare. Once this had been applied I moved it to the desired position in the image and changed the overall color of the light by applying a Hue/Saturation layer with a clipping mask to the lens flare.
